Anyway , that wasnt why I started this post. I was  actually just getting acupuncture (yes, me, needles, voluntarily, but that too is a whole other post,) and during the dim-light portion where you sit still for 20 minutes with needles protruding from your body, I was drifting among memories, and reflecting on this week. This is a big week in my head. 5 years ago yesterday, we found out we were prego with Jack. Oh what an exciting yet terrifying day. And 5 years tomorrow was the funeral service for Lloyd, one of our dearly missed family treasures. And this week, today, is actually the due date for the baby we lost last summer. Wow, the emotions. 5 years, this week.  Valentine week – to celebrate love.  Cheers cheers!

Wait, WHAT? I didnt come for a psychological analysis, what the hell? And its been eating at me ever since. So I just looked up the definition of Type A. Per Wikipedia:

Type A individuals can be described as impatient, excessively time-conscious, insecure about their status, highly competitive, hostile and aggressive, and incapable of relaxation.  They are often high achieving workaholics who multi-task, drive themselves with deadlines, and are unhappy about the smallest of delays. Because of these characteristics, Type A individuals are often described as “stress junkies.” Type B individuals, in contrast, are described as patient, relaxed, and easy-going.

Symptoms of Type A Behavior

1. An intrinsic insecurity or insufficient level of self-esteem, which is considered to be the root cause of the syndrome. This is believed to be covert and therefore less observable.
2. Time urgency and impatience, which causes irritation and exasperation.
3. Free floating hostility, which can be triggered by even minor incidents.

Aggressive, hostile, “stress junkie”? Yikes. That sucks. Say it aint so.

This very morning I saw a big news piece n the today show about the cutbacks airlines are making AGAIN to remain profitable. This follows months of rate hikes and additional fees. I was getting nervous to fly this weekend in fear of the long lines, overbooked flights and unknown fees for food and luggage.

Now we have had a little family tragedy. I wont bother getting into it because its not too relevant, other than to say that we need to push our flights a day.

I called American Airlines to see what we could do, and **ug** how much it will cost us…. between reschedule fees and increased fights (no advance notice,) they want to charge $1521 MORE! Holy cow – I dont have that kinda money after all we have already spent on this trip….

SO I was kind and calm and spoke to a really nice rep (Nelly), who then brought a supervisor into the conversation. I explained what happened and they reduced us to a fair $100 change fee per person. What a humane gesture on American Airlines part. Certainly worthy of sharing this story.

Me: I wore some sassy shoes and they rubbed a blister on to my foot, now I am fixing it

Jack: Why did you wear sassy shoes?

Me: Cause they were cute and girly and fun . It isnt easy being a girl, you know.

Jack: Well, mommy, its pretty easy being a boy.

Its actually not bad, in a throw-back Janet Jackson (miss jackson if you’re nasty) sorta way. I am sure it will be a hit. But the reason I have to share is because I ask WHAT THE HECK IS RANDY DOING????

Hopefully the boy has better rhythm and timing than I had…
